Cookie info

Compared with other sites we use very few cookies and we’re careful not to compromise your privacy with the cookies that we do use.

Why are we sharing this information? The new EU e-Privacy Directive or “cookie law” came into force on 26th May 2012.

Here’s some more information about the cookies on our site and how they affect you.

Cookies can be broken down into 4 classifications.

1) Essential

Our retail site sets a few cookies so that the things you add to the cart will stay in the cart as you move around the site. Without those cookies the shop would not function as a shop; it would be like giving you a shopping basket with a big hole in the bottom.

Our wholesale site also requires a cookie. Without it you wouldn’t stay logged in and like the retail site you wouldn’t be able to place orders either.

2) Moderately Essential, but benign. Not used on our sites

We don’t currently store anything that might fall into this category.

These might be used, for example, to remember a user’s email address on a login form so that it’s quicker to login the next time they visit. The information is only ever accessible by the website that sets it.

3) Moderately Intrusive, but anonymous

These cookies are used to track user behaviour and site performance, but in a minimally intrusive way. The information collected is only accessible by us and is not personally identifiable in any way.

It’s like the online version of a nightclub doorman, clicking his counter as people go in. It’s helpful for us to know how many visitors we have to the site and the information helps us spot any problems with the site and make improvements to it.

All of our sites (and indeed most sites on the Internet) have cookies like these.

4) Highly Intrusive. Not used on our sites

The cookies that make this sort of thing possible are not used on any of our websites.

Have you ever visited a website and then continue to see adverts for that website or its products on other websites? Annoying isn’t it? That’s why you won’t see any ads displayed on our website and won’t see any of our ads or products advertised while you’re browsing other websites.

If you have any questions or concerns on the subject of cookies, drop us an email and we'll do our best to answer them.
